EUROTOX Newsletter Agosto


The EUROTOX2021 congress, organised by the Danish Society for Toxicology and Pharmacology in conjunction with EUROTOX, will take place September 26-29, 2021 in Copenhagen, Denmark. 

The congress theme “Toxicology of the next generation – Combined efforts in the quest for safer chemicals and medicines” is reflected in the congress programme. This covers a variety of topics dealing with the safety of drugs and environmental chemicals, new and emerging technologies, personalised medicine, human health effects caused by exposure to chemicals as well as safety issues arising from climate change.
Over the upcoming months, the website will be updated with further congress details including the scientific program, and information regarding registration and hotel accommodations.

The abstract submission platform will open Monday, November 2, 2020. The deadline for abstract submission will be Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

Opportunities for exhibition and sponsorships are currently available. Interested companies and organisation can visit the exhibition and sponsorship section of the congress website.

Important Initiatives from IUTOX 

Don’t miss the two important initiatives from IUTOX. The first is an update to the situation of the pandemic prepared by WHO to advise countries on how best to respond. This is especially important considering the role that Toxicology societies can have in the world of public health.

The Long-range Research Initiative (LRI) programme of the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic) is now accepting grant applications to carry out research in the following areas:

LRI AIMT11: Expansion of A Regulatory Accepted In Vitro Testing Battery for Developmental Neurotoxicity (DNT) Evaluation

LRI C9: Mining the developmental toxicity biomarker genome in the zebrafish embryo test

LRI ECO54: Next generation risk assessment methods for substances associated with mobility concerns

Submissions for the European Partnership for Alternative Approaches to Animal Testing’s (EPAA) 2020 3Rs Science Prize is underway. EPAA promotes the development, validation and acceptance of 3Rs alternative approaches (replacement, reduction and refinement of testing on animals). The deadline for submissions is Monday, October 5, by 12:00 (noon).

Beltox Annual scientific meeting on chemical carcinogenicity is replaced by series of webinars beginning October until December 2020
In the wake of the Corona pandemic, the Steering Committee of BelTox has decided to organise this year a series of webinars instead of a live annual meeting. The topic of the webinar is chemical carcinogenesis, and the webinar consists of three sessions planned on:
  • 14 October 2020: Regulatory aspects of chemical carcinogenesis.
  • 18 November 2020: The lung as a target for chemical carcinogenesis
  • 9 December 2020: The liver as a target for chemical carcinogenesis
